Description

ASHOVER SK3463 CHAPEL HILL 1264-0/11/22 (North side) Weavers Cottage II House, formerly a row of three or more cottages. Late C18, with alterations in C19 and C20. Coursed squared gritstone with tooled dressings. Quoined ends, and former quoined corner, now encased by near- contemporary additions. Single coped gable at east end, otherwise plain gables. 2 gable stacks, one brick, one ashlar, and an ashlar ridge stack. Stone slate and Welsh slate roof coverings. Southern elevation 2 storeys and 5 bays, with the 2 bays to the west end advanced, and the next 2 bays raised. Central doorway, with massive jambs and lintels, flanked by stacked 2-light flush-mullioned windows, with fixed lights and casements, both of 4 panes. Blocked doorway at junction of central range and advanced range, now a casement window. Advanced range with stacked flush mullioned windows to each bay. Bay to west end, with doorway against former quoined corner of central range, with massive lintel and surround. Stacked 2-light flush-mullioned windows. Single-storey lean-to at east end, with plain surround to doorway and roofed with massive gritstone flagstones. Blocked doorway at first floor level of east gable.
