Railway Viaduct over the River Blyth

A Grade II Listed Building in Stannington, Northumberland

Repair work on Plessey Viaduct

Uploader's Comments

During track renewal work in October 2023 a section of the parapet was found to be unstable. This resulted in emergency repair work that necessitated single line working over the viaduct for one month, disrupting services between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Pre-cast concrete sections and steel underpinning were used to replace the unstable section.
