MELBOURN HIGH STREET TL 3844 (North west side) 24/155 No. 38 (Glebe House) II

House, formerly the vicarage. c.1835. Grey brick stuccoed and incised in imitation of stone ashlar. Slate roof, hipped with internal stacks. Double pile plan with offices and services at rear and to left hand. Two storeys. Symmetrical facade of three recessed twelve pane hung sashes framed by clasping corner pilasters. Two steps up to central doorway with narrow hood on enriched console brackets. Double doorway, panelled doors and rectangular fanlight. Round headed arch to staircase window in rear wall. Inside: Vestibule leads to hall with family and service rooms off. Open staircase with stick balusters. Ground floor rooms have one original white marble fireplace and one of grey. Fitted bookcases to one room dated 1853. This was probably the incumbents study and parish room.
