Detached house. C15, C16, C17, late C18-mid C19. Main body; blue lias on ground floor, close-studded timber-framing with struts above. Late C18-mid C19 extensions in brick with remnants of earlier square-panelled timber-framing suggesting rebuilding of possibly C17 extension, late C19 kitchen extension blue lias. Stone slate roof to C15 and C16 main body, otherwise concrete tiling. Brick stacks. Plan; rectangular C15 range running east and west with C16 additions on north and south. Projecting stack in north-west angle between wings. Later extensions to south gable-end with late C19 kitchen extension at right angles. C15- C16 main body 2 and 3 storeys, house otherwise 2 storeys. East front: kitchen extension extending forwards left. C19 lean-to entrance partially obscuring timber-framing of main body. Irregular fenestration to C15-C16 part, 4-light stone-mullioned casement with transom to ground floor. Three and 4-light wood- mullioned casements with transoms projecting-slightly from facade to first and second floors. Cusped barge board on west gable, left-hand board C15. C20 plank door under gabled open sided porch left. Jettied C16 north gable lit by 1, 2 and 3-light casements. Projecting west gable with barge boards with vine scroll decoration, carvings of rat-like creature at the lowest point of each board. Two short braces at eaves level with foliate decoration. Decorative barge boards and carved braces probably date from C16 remodelling. Some cross members on west gable moulded. All windows in C15-C16 main body C20 with leaded panes. Two-windowed late C18-mid C19 extensions right (viewed from west) lit by 2 and 3-light casements flat-arched heads to window lower right. C20 plank door with cover strips in 'Tudor'-arched brick surround with limestone keystone. Twin diagonal flues from projecting stack in north-west angle of C15-C16 main body. Interior not accessible but Verey states that the roof of the C15 range is almost complete, comprising 4 bays with arch-braced collars, upper and lower purlins, curved wind braces. (D.
