House, now with offices to street range. 3 main periods of construction and 3 distinct elements. Front brick range to street 1873, with a north extension of 1926. Middle range in courtyard early C17 and timber-framed. Rear part mid C18, brick. Roofs of black glazed pantiles. Street range, now solicitors' offices. 1873 block of 2 storeys and attic presenting gable-end to street: central double-leaf panelled door under shallow brick pedimented hood is flanked by one sash either side with 2 similar to first floor. Occulus in gable. 2-storey 1926 addition abuts to north, also in brick. Fenestration of sashes. Gabled roof. Centre range C17. Timber-framed with C18 brick skin. Facade is to south. 2-storey facade in 3 bays. Central panelled door below 4-vaned fanlight under a rebated round arch. Sashes have glazing bars and gauged skewback arches. Cornice and parapet. Gabled roof with a central ridge stack and internal gable-end stack to east. North side has a C19 outshut in flint with brick dressings (whitewashed) forming a subsidiary facade of 2 storeys in 3 bays. Central panelled door within panelled reveals. Hood over. Blind window left, a sash to right with glazing bars and gauged skewback arch. Central blind first-floor window flanked by similar sashes. Dentil eaves cornice. 2-storeyed brick rear range is C18 with various replaced sashes and doors. Double-pile, the south element under a Mansard roof, the north part gabled. INTERIOR. Front range with little of interest. Centre range timber-framed 3-celled house. Ground floor with sunk quadrant-moulded bridging beams. First floor east room with jowled principal studs, arched braces to corners and chamfered bridging beam with nicked ogee stops. First floor west room has jewelled stops to beams. Roof has butt lower purlins, clasped upper ones and collars. Lower purlins positioned lower than originally intended. Principals are cut back above upper purlins, not diminished. Whole roof archaic by early C17 and probably re-used.
