House and cottage formerly The Ship Hotel. Dated 'T.E. 1683', altered. Pebble-dashed, graduated slate roof. 2 storeys, 2:1 windows to 1st floor; wing to rear of No.5A on right. No.5 (on left): part-glazed door with overlight flanked, on each floor, by C20 casements. Square-headed opening on right above which is the datestone having horseshoe carved above the date. No.5A, beyond, has door and single window to each floor as rest. End stacks and party walls ridge stack. INTERIORS: few exposed features. Former wall cupboard in No.5 (now made into corner cupboard and therefore not included in item) is of oak in 2 panels with 'TSE 1603' carved on upper panel. In pantry to rear of No.5A is a reused fragment of medieval masonry with foliated cross. Shown as The Ship Hotel and with C19 fenestration in an early C20 photograph (Walton).
