Shop. Early C17. Timber-framed and rendered with gabled plain tiled roofs; small stack through front roof slope, 0.34m square of bricks on edge. EXTERIOR: single storey with attic; 2-window range. The formerly jettied ground floor has one bracket exposed on exterior and 2 more to be seen within building. C20 shop front of large panes and glazed 6-panel door. 2 gabled dormers, each with a 12-pane sash in moulded surround. INTERIOR: interesting frame with long, chamfered and lambs-tongue-stopped spine beam across complete site width and off-centre cross-passage leading to rear stairs. The front wall provides evidence for 2 door-like openings and large, probable shop 'windows', without subdivisions. Above the south-western cross partition (now removed) is an A-frame truss with collar and dovetails and on rafter feet. Part of rear wall is now of brick. The north-eastern flank was built open-framed against a C15 or C16 open truss with large arch braces to tie beam, now infilled with later studwork. On the south-western flank the exterior of No.12 (qv) is exposed on both floors, with studwork and a parlour door with arched doorhead and hollow chamfers, probably of the early C16.
