2. Probably circa 1820, formerly part of the Old Globe Inn complex. The building formed part of a bridge head development which included Nos 2 and 4 Bridge Street, Nos 1 and 104 Northbrook Street. Three storeys. Three window front. Slate hipped roof. Stucco with projecting cornice and blocking course. Recessed sash windows with glazing bars. Mid C20, 3 bay, Neo-Georgian stone bank front with ¾ columns and pilasters at each end carrying entablature; bow windows with small panes. Lower entrance extension at north end using former bridge shelter of 1769-72 as doorway (see Bridge). In 1820 Mr King refronted the Old Globe Inn in stucco with classical detailing. The main part of the Inn was demolished 1868. (Newbury Buildings Past and Present (1973) 17).
