Shops and dwellings, on island site. No.49: C18 front to C17 timber-frame. Brick; Welsh slate roof with gable to front; plain tiles to rear. 2-storeys, attic and cellar; 4-window range: late C19, 2/2 sash in gable element; late C19, 2/2 sash, casement and blocked opening, to right; all in moulded frames under segmental arches; storey band over; soffited eaves. Ground floor: mainly C20 brickwork, with C20 light under chamfered stone lintel; storey band; small extension. Right returned side: storey band; late C19, 2/2 sash; early C20 shopfront with central entrance, with early C20 canted bay with 1/1: 2/2: 1/1 sashes over, obscuring earlier opening. Rear elevation: English garden wall bond; blocked doorway and window; shuttered opening, early C20 part glazed door in plain case under simple open pediment hood on consoles. Left returned side: C19, 4-light casement with fanlight glazed head, set in render; ornamented barge boards and finial; early C20 shopfront to ground floor with central glazed door and overlight, flanked by shop windows with moulded glazing shafts. Rear: to left, timber-framing with C19 lights; roughcast bay with C19 tripartite light; to right, rendered bay with blocked opening. C20 shopfront to left; C18, 6-panel double-doors in panelled doorcase with moulded architrave; to right, blocked light and C19 shop-window with moulded glazing shaft. No.47 and 48. House and shop. C17 with C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Timber-frame and plaster; stucco and render; Welsh slate roof with twin gables, that to left having altered (shallower) roof pitch; C19 wing to left has C20 cross axial ridge stack. 2-storeys; 2-window range: to right, C19 metal casement set in post and pan framing; to left, C19 margin-glazed sash; triangular light and round-headed casement in moulded frame, over. Restored timber-frame. To right, C19 shopfront, with half-glazed 2-panel door to left, vertical glazing bars to window, and chamfered pilasters, under moulded fascia hood on consoles. To left, stucco with 2 late C19 sashes in moulded cases, with stone sills. Wing to right has French window in moulded case under cambered arch, to 1st floor; C20 plate glass shop-window.
