House. c1780 with early C19 alterations. Stuccoed brick; hipped slate roof with stucco end stacks. Double-depth plan. Georgian style. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range; canted end bays. Top cornice and blocking course. Round-headed entrance has Tuscan porch, fluted panels to pilasters, archivolt, and plain fanlight over half-glazed door with etched glass. Windows have sills; ground floor has 2 windows with 8/1-pane horned sashes, that to right bay has flanking windows to returns; 1st floor has 16-pane sashes. Returns have single-storey later additions, that to right with end canted bay window, that to left C20. Rear has 3 gables, the central gable smaller, and gabled wing to right. INTERIOR has open well stair with turned balusters and newels; ground floor rooms with flat cornices. The house was probably built in connection with Trent and Mersey Canal, which runs to rear, and had a warehouse and wharf. (Bolton J M: Canal Town Stone: Wolverhampton: 1981-: 12-13).
