Description


STREATLEY HIGH STREET (south side) SU 5980 10/21 Middle House 14.4.67 GV II House. Late C17 with C19 refenestration. Flint with brick dressings, plinth and plat band. Moulded wooden eaves cornice to old tile roof with end stack to left and 2 hipped dormers with 2-light casements, one in centre and one off-centre to right. Partial catslide to rear with central C17 gabled stair projection. 2 storeys and attic. 3 first floor 2-light casements with Gothick traceried heads. 2 ground floor 3-light casements with Gothick traceried heads and heavy stone surrounds flanking central 6-panelled door with rectangular 2-light overlight and heavy stone surround with cornice on scrolled brackets. Interior: C17 square well staircase to rear with 3 flights to each floor, square newels, turned balusters, moulded rail and continuous string. Wall paintings under wallpaper in first floor room to right.
