Image obtained from the yard at the back of the building with the permission of the current Occupier. The canal was opened to Enfield from Burnley on the 23 April 1801 and terminated here for several years whilst the next section to Blackburn was built. The plans for the first warehouse were drawn up in 1800. The warehouse was extended in 1806 with several further extensions throughout the 1820s. Part of the building was converted to a house around 1830. On the 4th October 1942 a disgruntled employee from a nearby mill set fire to the warehouse causing considerable damage to the building and destroying a quantity of raw cotton being stored there.
