Description

BURRINGTON CP BURRINGTON SO 47 SW 3/13 Tudor Cottage II Farmhouse, now house. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations and additions; partly restored late C20. Timber-framed, partly rendered with some rubble walling and refacing, machine tiled roofs projecting on three tiers of shaped brackets at gable ends and with brick stack to centre and rear of main ridge. L-plan. Main range of three bays aligned north/south with three-bay range at north end which has two tall brick stacks on its north side. Part single storey and attic with half-dormers, part two storeys, cellar and attic with dormers. Framing: upper part of south end wall-posts exposed in main range. North wing has probably five rows of panels from sill to wall-plate visible beneath render. East front elevation: main range has C20 casements throughout. There are two 2-light windows and a single-light window on the ground floor, two gabled half-dormers with 2-light windows and a 2-light window beneath the eaves in the central bay. Main entrance in central bay has a C20 half-glazed door. North wing has C19 casements. In the angle with the main part there are two 3-light windows on both main floors. Two gabled dormers with projecting eaves on moulded brackets and 2-light leaded windows and a C20 door with a blocked transom light. At the east gable end there are plank weatherings at first floor and attic level. Interior: most of framing said to survive in main range. North range has substantial chamfered main ceiling beams, some original moulded door surrounds and there is a large semi-circular archway leading down to the cellar.
