Farmhouse. 1795 for Cornelius Stovin. Brown brick. Pantile roof. Double- depth plan with 2-room, central entrance-hall south front. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays; symmetrical. 6-panelled door in architrave, sashes in flush wooden architraves with sills, all beneath stucco flat arches. Stepped brick eaves. Stone-coped gables with shaped kneelers. Corniced and banded end stacks. Right return has ground-floor window with original architrave beneath segmental arch, blocked first-floor window with sill and stucco flat arch, attic window with inserted frame beneath segmental arch. Glazing and most sashes missing at time of resurvey. Gable ends bear wrought-iron letters "C S" to left and figures "9 5" to right. Interior. Damaged single-flight open-well staircase with remains of ramped corniced handrail, slender drop-on-vase balusters and newel posts with square knops, profiled cheek-pieces. Chamfered spine beams and exposed ceiling joists. Original cast-iron grates, one with elliptical-arched stone surround. Plaster first floor and attic floor. Good 5-bay roof with jowled king posts, 2 tiers of pegged staggered butt purlins, queen struts and raking struts, with carpenter's marks throughout. Part of the improvements undertaken by Cornelius Stovin of nearby Hirst Priory (qv). Formerly known as Mosswood Grange Farmhouse. Empty and in disrepair at time of resurvey.
