Farmhouse. Early C19 with alterations and additions of 1970s. Yellow brick, finely jointed in Flemish bond, with ashlar dressings. Welsh slate roof. Additions in similar style and materials. Original section approximately square on plan, with 2-room, central entrance-hall south front and 2-room west garden front; additions to north and east. 2 storeys. Stone step from former verandah on south and west fronts. Plinth band. South front: 6 bays: 4-bay original section with 3-bay symmetrical entrance front to left. Entrance to second bay has 2 steps with moulded nosings to half-glazed panelled door with margin lights beneath moulded lintel, plain overlight and ashlar lintel in splayed brick reveal and surround with brick pilasters and dosserets with moulded cornice and blocking course. Original slightly recessed 12-pane sashes, one to left, 2 to right, with sills and wedge lintels; 2 similar C20 windows to right extension. Painted first- floor band with projecting section forming blocking course above entrance. First floor has 3 original 12-pane sashes to left, narrow sash to right with margin lights, pair of C20 sashes to right extension. First 3 bays have C19 wooden louvred window shutters, those to ground floor with ramped tops. Corniced wood gutter. Double span hipped roof. Ridge stack with twin shafts, ashlar plinths, cornices and blocking courses, square pots; similar 4-shafted ridge stack to left return and twin-shafted stack to rear. Left return forms 2-bay west garden front: pair of full-length ground-floor 12- pane sashes beneath wedge lintels in raised surrounds with ashlar entablatures, raised sections of the first-floor band forming blocking courses. 12-pane first-floor sashes similar to south front. All windows to west front with louvred shutters. Hipped roof. Single-storey single-window C20 addition to left with similar sash beneath hipped roof. Interior. Entrance hall has elliptical-arched opening to stairhall with pilasters, archivolt and panelled soffit. Good open-well cantilevered staircase with wreathed grip handrail, profiled cheek-pieces and cast-iron balustrade of wavy foliate balusters and foliate drop-shaped newel post. South-west room has grey marble chimney-piece with acanthus leaf consoles. North-west room has elliptical-arched alcove with pilasters and archivolt. Plasterwork includes ornate moulded and coved cornices, foliate friezes and centre- pieces to main west rooms and lower hall, panelled ceiling to upper hall, moulded cornices to study and first-floor bedrooms. Panelled doors in architraves throughout. House formerly had a tented verandah to south and west sides.
