I spoke to the owners, who told me they believed the tiny cottage was originally built circa 18th Century.

Rumour has it, they were told, that the cottage was originally located elsewhere in the village and was moved, piece by piece, to its current location, at an unknown time.

Looking carefully, you can see that this tiny cottage sits at 90° to the adjacent houses and road, and although appearances deceive, it is an entirely separate structure.
