Pair of estate cottages, c1832 by J. Thomson for J. Neeld of Grittleton. Squared rubble stone with slate eaves roof and centre ridge stack. 1 1½ storeys, T-plan. Raised plinth, unmoulded small mullion windows with small-paned casements. Advanced centre gable with 2-light each floor, doors to main range each side originally with hipped slate open porches in angles to centre projection, that to right removed and door altered to window. One of the estate cottages designed by Thomson for the reconstruction of Alderton village from 1831-2 and illustrated in his unpublished History of the Church and Village of Alderton 1845 71. Included as a relatively unaltered example.
