House. 1868. By Israel Bacon. Builder John Perry. Red brick in Flemish bond. Mansard roof of slate. French Second Empire style. Roughly square in plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic over basement. 3-window range. In left range are steps up to flat-arched entrance with overlight, set in aedicule consisting of Tuscan pilasters and entablature; similar aedicule to a pair of flat-arched, ground-floor windows to the right, each of which has a projecting sill and a cast-iron balconette. Sill band to 1st-floor windows, which are segmental-arched with keyed lintels and eared architraves. Entablature with mutule cornice continuous to top storey. Three flat-arched dormers of original design. 2x2 sashes of original design. To right return a full-height bay housing stair; projecting chimney breast on left return. First-floor windows on return similar to those on main elevation. Other features from main elevation also repeated. Stacks with cornices and capstones to returns. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES:remnants of cast-iron porch to entrance; railings to entrance walls. Forms a group with No.4 (qv), which is of identical design.
