CHOLSEY HALFPENNY LANE SU58SE (North side) Breach House 5/80 19/08/85 II
House. c.1905. By E.P. Warren for himself. Cement render on brick; old plain-tile hipped roof; brick internal stacks. H-plan with service wing to right. Early Georgian style. 2 storey and attic. 7-window range, 2:3:2. mix-panel door to recess to centre with moulded eared architrave surround supporting segmental pediment. 2-light small-pane casements to all openings except cross-windows to first floor centre and ground floor right. All windows have ovolo-moulded surrounds, those to ground floor with floating cornices. Rectangular ovolo-moulded panels between ground and first floor. Deep eaves. Bell-cast hipped roof with hipped cross-gables to left and right. 3 hipped dormers to centre, the centre with 3-light casement, single casement to left and right. Internal stack to left of centre, end stack to right. Rear: 2 storeys and attic; 7-window range, 2:3:2. Recessed loggia to centre with 2 Doric columns. 2-light small-pane inwards-opening casements to all openings. All windows have ovolo moulded surrounds, those to ground floor left and right with floating cornices. All windows have louvred shutters. Interior: segmental arcade to hall. Ovolo moulded stone surround to hall fireplace. 2 moulded fireplaces with bracketed cornices to Drawing room to left with early C19 flower paintings built-in above.
