BIDINGBURY BACK LANE SP46NW (East side) Brook Farmhouse 5/1 15/04/77 GV II Farmhouse. C17, with C19 and late C20 alterations. Timber framed with old brick infill, underbuilt with C19 brick to front and coursed lias rubble to right return side; wing largely rebuilt in Flemish bond red brick with brick dentil cornice. C20 tile roofs; old brick ridge and C20 brick lateral stacks. L-plan, with cross wing on right to road. 2 storeys, one storey and attic wing; one-window range. C19 two-light casements with glazing bars. Jowled posts and large curved braces. Wing has blocked doorway on right. 3-light wood and iron casement with glazing bar. Brick segmental arches. Left return side has timber framed gable. Right return side has irregular fenestration, with C20 window inserted in former doorway. To rear: front wall of main range faced in mid C20 brick. 2-light casements. Wing has some exposed framing to left. C20 casement inserted in blocked doorway and window. C20 half-glazed door inserted to right. Late C20 porch in angle, and late C20 full-width open verandah. 2 dormers have 2-light casements with glazing bars. Interior: room in main range has chamfered cross beams and open fireplace with 2 small cupboards. Another room has cross beams. Room has open fireplace. Exposed framing and jowled posts. Old enclosed straight flight stairs, and C19 quarter turn staircase. First floor has old floor boards. Room in main range has a plank enclosure in angle beside stack, with rebates to take planks or a gate; possible a grain store. Another room has old moulded 2-panelled door.
