Slab vault cover. c1861, designer unknown. Stone over brick vault; inscribed. Sir William Cubitt was an engineer involved in the construction of numerous canal, port and railway enterprises; as president of the Institution of Civil Engineers he supervised the construction of Crystal Palace in 1851.
