ALCESTER HENLEY STREET SP0857 (West side) 4/62 Nos.29 and 31 01/02/67 (Greyhound House) (Formerly listed as Henley House)

GV II

House, formerly inn. c.1600. Timber framed; small framing with lath and plaster infill. Tile roof; brick ridge stack of 3 diagonally set square shafts. L-plan, with passage in left corner. 2 storeys; 3 unequal bays. 2 entrances have C19 or C20 doors with 5 vertical panels and overlights in moulded woood surrounds. Ground floor has two C19 wood 3-light mullioned and transomed windows. Jettied first floor with moulded bressumer, supported on moulded posts with scroll brackets. Early C19 iron casements with glazing bars. To rear exposed framing with brick infill. Timber framed wing with jowled posts and external brick stack. Long timber framed wing with side faced in C18/C19 brick and plastered end wall. Interior: Much exposed framing and ceiling beams. 2 open fireplaces. Mid/late C17 straight flight staircase wtih turned balusters. (V.C.H.: Warwickshire III, p.ii),
