Public house. A long 3-cell C16 main range, in 2 main phases; early-mid C17 wing to rear forming L-shape plan. Timber framed, mainly plastered; ground floor of main range partly encased in C20 red brick. Plaintiles to front slope of main range, otherwise pantiles. 2 storeys. 4 windows, mainly C18- Cl9 casements; C20 single storey brick addition set forward. 3 boarded doors. Internal stack between hall and parlour and a smaller later stack to the left. Early-mid C16 parlour end, the remainder of the main range added at a slightly later date, undoubtedly replacing medieval work. The stack is a mid C16 insertion into a smoke bay between the 2 ranges. Some good heavy studding with reversed bracing; various diamond-mullioned windows or evidence for them. At the service end, a blocked ground floor window with 4-centre arched head: this was probably a shop window. Open fireplace in hall with embattled lintol. A similar but mutilated lintol over the parlour fireplace has been shortened and re-set. Plain crown-post roof over parlour, with arched braces from crown-post to collar purlin. Clasped purlins with arched wind-bracing over the remainder of the range.
