BROADWAY 1. 5255 (east side) Garden City Corporation Offices TL 2132 8/27 II 2. 1913 by B Parker and R Unwin. Office building in a classical style akin to New England colonial work. It appears to have started the Neo-Georgian fashion in the town centre. Three storeys and dormers. Symmetrical facade with slightly projecting end and central bays. Fenestration 1:4: :4:1. Hipped, tiled roof with brick stacks and central wooden cupola with clock below. Brown brick with eaves cornice and second floor sill string. Rendered ground floor with Tuscan pilasters carrying entablature. Open loggia at north end. Gauged flat brick arches to sash windows with exposed boxing and glazing bars. Round-arched opening to ground and first floor of central bay.
