House. Late C15 or early C16 former open hall house as E range, C17 inserted floor, C19 S range, renovated C20. Timber frame on stuccoed brick sill, exposed frame with plastered panels on rear wall of E range, roughcast elsewhere. Steep old red tile roofs. An L-plan 1 1/2-storeys house on a moated site, facing E, with 2-storeys C19 2-storeys gabled crosswing at S end of E front. This has 2 gabled dormers at eaves of hall range, 2 single-light windows below, hooded recessed porch at junction with projecting S crosswing which has a window to each floor and half-octagonal bay on its S side. Flush casement windows. Large internal N gable chimney to E range with 2 diagonal square shafts (rebuilt). Internal chimney with 3 conjoined diagonal shafts to S crosswing. 1 1/2-storeys S range extending to W. Interior has exposed timbers of 2 1.2 bays of hall range, the longer middle bay is the lower bay of the hall, separated by a full height partition wall from S bay which now has entrance and winding stair and may be a wide cross-passage bay. Arch-braced hollow chamfered open truss remains with queen-posts and arched-braces to collar. Centre of tie-beam cut out and used as a decorative feature to right of fireplace on ground floor. Narrow N bay with internal gable chimney represents a shortening of the upper bay of the hall. Clasped-purlin roof structure, wind-braces cut out, jowled posts, central post and curved tension braces in partition wall, floor carried on inserted chamfered axial beam. Chamfered and stopped joists re-used in C20 S crosswing.
