YALDING CLAYGATE ROAD TQ 74 NW (South-west side) 4/72 Mirembe II

House, once cottages, formerly Public House, now house. Late C18 or early C19 facade to a (probably) earlier building. Timber framed, clad with beaded weatherboarding. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys and attic, on rendered plinth. Moulded wooden eaves cornice. Half-hipped roof. Central brick ridge stack. Two small hipped two-light dormers. Regular 2-window front of three-light casements with shutters, small-paned ground-floor casements. Blocked doorways to right and left ends. Panelled door in weatherboarded lean-to porch under stack. Later weatherboarded lean-to with slate roof to left. Rear lean-to. Interior not inspected. Formerly known as The Engineer Inn. (Wrongly named The Volunteer Inn on the 1960 Provisional List).
