PAINSWICK SLAD SO 80 NE 5/384 Steanbridge Farmhouse II 21.10.55 Farmhouse. Circa late C18. Limestone ashlar front, coursed limestone at sides and rear. Stone tile 2-span roof with gable end and parapets. Ashlar gable end stacks with moulded cornices and square yellow clay pots. Square double depth plan. Palladian style 2-storeys and attic. Symmetrical 1:3:1 bay south front, the centre breaks forward with small pediment containing large oculus 12-pane sashes, all replacements except for 2 on ground floor left. Central doorway with small later parts and glazed doors. 3-window left-hand (west) return, some blind, 12 and 6-pane sashes, those on right original. Symmetrical 3-bay rear elevation with 2 and 3-light stone mullion windows and central panelled door, partly glazed. Interior: The front doorway originally gave into an entrance passage but now leads directly into the large parlour on left (derivative) of a hall with a very large fireplace, its chimneypiece having been removed, and unchamfered ceiling beams front right hand, small parlours, not inspected. Stairwell behind small parlour has dog-leg stairs with stick balusters and moulded handrail ramped up to column newels. To rear right the drawing is now the dining room and to rear left the kitchen has a fireplace with a kowtel-moulded stone chimneypiece with a baystone. First floor and attics not inspected.
