5/3 Kitcombe House 31.7.63 II
House. Late C18, and late C19. Georgian house, with larger and taller Victorian extensions to the rear. Symmetrical front (east) of 2 storeys, 5 windows. Hipped slate roof. Walls of brindle brickwork in header bond, with flush red dressings ( quoins,rubbed flat arches), parapet with coping and modillion cornice, plain stone 1st floor band, stone cills, and a plinth; in the centre of the parapet is a blind arch with a stone key. Sashes in reveals. Tuscan doorcase with ¾ plain columns above 4 steps, with an arched entrance with key and impost bands, decorative fanlight, and ½-glazed door. There is an entrance at the north side, beneath a round-headed landing window, and inside a C18 staircase. The rear extensions (probably replacing an earlier building) one of 2 storeys and attic, with a tile roof, brick walls, and mostly sash windows in coupled or triple form.
