DRIGG AND CARLETON CARLETON SD 09 NE 7/19 Cumblands 8.9.67 - II Farmhouse. Late C18 with later alterations. Brick with ashlar dressings, some stucco, and slate roof. North-east elevation of 2 storeys with attic and 3 bays. Central entrance plan. Ashlar plinth, top frieze and quoins. Windows have plain ashlar surrounds, those to ground floor with brick flat arches, and are sashed with glazing bars. C19 gabled dormer windows have sashes with single glazing bars and horns. Entrance has aedicule with pediment. Gable-end stacks. South-west return has 2-storey wing with blocked elliptical-headed cart entrance. Rear plain sashed windows with horns, 6-panel door with overlight; segmental-headed cart entrance to wing has sashed window with single glazing bars and horns over. A rare example of brickwork in the area.
