BOOTLE - SD 19 SW 9/4 Swallowhurst and attached barns 8.9.67 - II House. Datestone reads: "WE/IP/1770", later alterations. Stone rubble, house roughcast, slate and concrete tile roofs. House flanked by barns at right angles to ends. South elevation of 2 storeys and 3 bays. Coped gables with kneelers. Windows have C20 casements replacing sashes. Central entrance has porch with elliptical head and archivolt, c.1820, glazed doors. Diamond shaped datestone with heart motif. Gable-end stacks. Flanking recessed and lower outbuildings have small casement windows, that to west with through passage, that to right with lean-to porch. Barns project to south, concrete tiles and altered opening to returns, that to west with entrance and ventilation slots, that to east roughcast.
