Formerly manor house, later school, now house: mid-late C18 (graffito date 1776 found during roof repairs) late C19 extension to rear. Flemish bond orange brick with painted stone dressings. Hipped Welsh slate roof of 2 parallel ranges. Brick chimneys. Double-pile plan. 3-storey symmetrical 3-bay east front. Moulded stone plinth, band at 1st floor and modillion cornice. End bays have Venetian windows on lower 2 floors with fine gauged and rubbed brick heads, semi-circular headed sashes above (all have lost glazing bars) central bay projects forward slightly under a low pediment. Ground storey stuccoed with Tuscan doorcase. 4-panelled door with a semi-circular fanlight and scrolled glazing bars that breaks the pediment. 1st floor window has a partial balustrade below an eared architrave with semi-circular head and a raised key block to plain sash. 4-pane sash above. Small 1-storey portion to the right carries a similar balustrade and contains a 12-pane sash. To left side are 2 added canted bays and extension to rear in Ruabon brick. Interior: Hall has panelled dado and simple wooden doorcases. Broad elliptical arch with panelled soffits on fluted pilasters leads to stairwell. Oak well staircase with curving mahogany handrail and fluted square balusters. Pierced and fluted brackets on open string, painted panelled dado with fluted pilasters on closed string. 6-panelled door flanked by quarter columns to rock cut cellar. Downstairs later basalt and marble fireplaces. Shouldered architraves to doors upstairs. Main room has Neo-Classical detailing. Doorcases have frieze of husks, broken pediments with central urn. Panelled dado carries fluted Corinthian pilasters. Ceiling frieze of husks and an ovolo and modillion cornice. Blocked fireplace with shouldered architrave.

The house formerly extended to left via a 1 storey portion to a large end pavilion with a lantern. The same decorative details were carried through.
