Description

ALLOSTOCK C.P. HOLMES CHAPEL ROAD SJ 77 SW 2/3 Sculshaw Lodge 3 January 1967 GV II Mansion of late C17 origins but now of early C19 appearance and with C20 additions. Whitened coursed stucco, on brickwork, with roof of old slates, laid with diminishing courses. 2 storeys, attic and basement, 5 bays flanked by later 2-storey 1-bay wings. Recessed sashes with glazing bars to main block 2-to-5-light flush casements to wings. Pair of oak three-quarter-glazed 4-pane flush doors in plain flush frame. Moulded eaves gutters. Barge boards and tall gable-end stacks. Original sandstone ridge. At the rear there is a glazed oak door to a C20 added flat roofed brick porch. Interior: Wide boarded doors on strap or HL hinges and six-panel doors. Bevelled beams. 2-panel Jacobean style panelled doors and wide boarded doors on HL hinges at first floor level, also bevelled beams. The stairs leading to the attic have splat balusters and there are wide boarded doors at attic level.
