HENDERSKELFE SOUTH PARTERRE SE 7169 Castle Howard 12/61 Pedestal approximately 90 metres south of Atlas 25.1.54 Fountain (formerly listed under "Castle Howard with Outbuilding to east and garden statues") GV II* The pedestal on which statue of Dancing Faun formerly stood. c1720, probably by Nicholas Hawksmoor. Sandstone pedestal, 2.5 metres in height. Square 3-course base to drum pedestal with moulded base and cornice, and festoons. Feet of statue and iron bar which formerly held it in place still in place. Statue lies on grass to north and represents a dancing faun with cymbals.
