KILDALE NZ 60 NW 6/120 Barn to West House Farm at 6348 0916 II
Field barn with attached wheelhouse. Early 19, engine house mid C19. Rubblestone brought to course; pantile roof with stone coping and ridges. Barn of 6 bays with engine house projecting at centre and having semi-octagonal end. Barn: plinth; quoins; 2 doorways, left one blocked, right one with board door, each with punch-dressed quoins and lintel; blocked slit vents; block kneelers. Engine house has stone columns, the bays with later rubblestone infill; obelisk roof finial. Barn gables have blocked pitching holes; and at rear opposing board stable doors. Interior: barn divided into 2 cells each with loft, but now removed from one side; log-like tie-beams; principal-rafter roof trusses. Engine house has large-scantling beams. Attached covered yard and loose-box range at rear not included in listing.
