SK 36 SE TOWN OF CLAY CROSS DEERLEAP LANE 2/23 (South Side) Deerleap Cottages II

Six cottages, now two. C18, partly altered in early C19. Coursed squared sandstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Stone slate roof to south, slate with stone slates to eaves on north side. Stone gable end stacks with moulded cornices. Similar stacks to south ridge and in central valley. Two storeys, three bays. Double pile plan, back to back cottages, formerly 3 to north and 3 to south. South elevation: 3-light flush mullion windows to either end, that to the west with C19 casements, that to the south with original leaded lights to sides and central glazing bar sash. Central 2-light flush mullion window with leaded light to east and glazing bar sash to west. Pair of adjoining flush quoined doorcases with C20 plank doors to west. To east of central window, similar doorcase with C18 panelled door. Above, to either end, 3-light flush mullion windows, both with C19 casements. Similar central window with western light now blocked. To either side blocked single light windows. North elevation: quoined flush doorcase with plain door to east. Glazing bar sash in flush surround to west. Similar, smaller sash beyond to west. Quoined flush doorcase and glazing bar sash to west again. Above, to either end, 3-light flush mullion windows with eastern lights blocked. Single light central window. East facade has partly blocked Venetian window to ground floor.
