Description

BOLSTONE CP - SO 53 SE 6/10 Ciderhouse and stable about 25 yards north-north-west of Bolstone Court GV II Ciderhouse and stable: Probably C18 with early C19 extension. Sandstone rubble and brick with hipped tiled roof. Rectangular plan of five plus three bays aligned north-north-west/south-south-east. Two levels: West elevation has brick part to left masked by mid-C20 steel lean-to. Right part of sandstone rubble has brick heads to segmental openings. First floor has a pair of such openings each of two lights with oak diamond section mullions: Between is a ledged loft door; ground floor has two similar mullioned openings, one either side of stable door: Ledged door to centre near junction with brick extension: Interior: has virtually complete cider mill, with oak rim about ten feet in diameter, and cider press, the screws for which penetrate the upper floor: Trusses of south sandstone part have raking struts; those of the three-bay brick part have strapped king-posts carrying raking struts and ties, also with raking struts.
