Lodge to Audley End House (qv). Mid C19, `Tudor' style red brick, mainly in English bond with black pointing. Low pitched slate roofs. T plan with splayed exterior corners facing W. 2 storeys with pierced parapet in moulded brick and with 2 moulded string courses below parapet and first floor. 4 groups of tall clustered `Tudor' stacks behind parapets, also in moulded brick. All windows have double chamfered brick reveals, shallow voussoired segment heads and splayed composition sills. Within all but one are tall, narrow, wooden casements with glazing bars, 1x4 panes. Front, W elevation (bar of T) 5 window range with central projecting porch carried up above parapet with curvilinear gables to each face enclosing a slated spirelet. Central wooden framed porch doorway has side lights in house style and also overlights, door has 2 upper glazed panels and lower flush bead-moulded boarded panel. Above, first floor, double casement window in house style, 2x4 panes. Either side of porch, 2 window range. Also, outer splayed faces having a single window on both floors. Rear, E elevation (stem of T) irregular, splayed corners with windows and parapet as rest of house, also outer windows. Centre of elevation, ground floor has window to N and doorway to S. Door has 2 upper glazed panels and 3 lower flush bead decorated panels. First floor has a central blind window aperture. Pair of stacks behind parapet off centre to N. S side elevation 2 units, W one deeper breaking forward with 4 window range and windowed corner splays. Unit to E of 3 window range with similar windowed E end splay. Central first floor window blind. Single ground and first floor windows in return wall between units. 3 groups of clustered chimney shafts visible behind parapet. N side elevation similar to S but somewhat irregular in W unit where ground floor has 3 windows and one blind aperture, also door similar to one on rear E elevation. First floor, 4 window range but central pair out of phase with those below. Corner splays with windows in house style. INTERIOR now all re-worked.
