Hotel. Mid C19, remodelled internally. Brick painted yellow with sandstone dressings painted white, graduated slate roof. L-plan on corner site, with rear courtyard. Debased classical style. Three storeys, 2:1:2 windows, symmetrical, with the centre breaking forwards slightly and a 2-storey canted bay at each end; corner pilasters, a brick sillband to the 1st floor, a plain frieze and moulded cornice with blocking course. The centre has a wide rectangular single-storey porch which has a round-headed arched opening with stone surround including imposts and keystone, and C20 metal fascia and railings surrounding the deck; a 4-pane sashed window at 1st floor with large consoles to a cornice which supports a plain stone panel. The canted bays have moulded cornices with blocking courses; the other windows have gauged brick heads; all the windows at ground floor have altered glazing, and all those at 1st floor have 4-pane sashes. At 2nd floor the 2 windows to the left have unhorned 12-pane sashes, but that in the centre and the 2 to the right have 12-pane top-hung casements. Stone gable copings; chimneys at left gable, on front slope left of centre, and on ridge right of centre. Doorway attached at left end (in stone architrave shared with No.6. Right-hand gable wall, 3 windows, corner pilasters; and beyond this a low 2-storey 3-window range. INTERIOR remodelled at ground floor.
