Farmhouse. Later C17, probably in 2 or more builds; altered. Coursed sandstone rubble and some handmade red brick, stone slate roof. T-plan formed by 2-unit baffle-entry main range with crosswing to the left and outshut to the rear of the right-hand end. Two storeys, 1:2 windows, with a blocked former principal doorway at the junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays, and an inserted doorway to the right of that, protected by a C20 glazed porch; one window on each floor to the left, that at ground floor with a simple hoodmould, one on each floor to the right, and one on each floor of the wing, all now C20 casements with raised sills and concrete lintels. Former ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays now removed; gable chimney to the right, and corner chimney to the wing. The return wall of the wing has an inserted doorway and inserted window. The gable of the right-hand end is of handmade red brick. At the rear the gable of the wing has a 3-light casement at ground floor and a 3-light horizontal sliding sash at 1st floor, the main range has 3-light sliding sashes on both floors, and the outshut (which is not tied in) has a 4-pane bottom-hinged casement and a blocked doorway. INTERIOR: the house part has an inglenook with a very large moulded bressummer, a large lateral beam with quarter-round moulding, and at the lower end 2 wide doorways with fielded panel doors; the parlour in the wing has a stop-chamfered beam with forked outer end; the 3rd bay has simpler beams; altered staircase in rear room of wing, former staircase in 3rd bay removed; 1st floor not inspected but said to have more beams.
