OAKLEY UPPER OAKLEY TM 17 NE 6/151 Byways GV II House, latterly 2 cottages. Late C16, possibly with earlier origins; left hand cell added or rebuilt in C18. Timber framed and plastered with a thatched roof. 1 1/2 storeys. 3-cell form. Late C19 small-paned casement windows; 2 former doorways replaced by mid C20 windows. Bracketed drip boards above all openings. 3 gabled dormers. Internal stack with 2 square shafts set diamondwise, of C18 or earlier date. Right gable end has 4-panel door into a former shop. To rear left a mid C20 addition and main entrance. Plain joists set flat in the 2 older ground floor rooms. Plain first floor studding.
