ENVILLE C.P. ENVILLE PARK SO 88 NW 8/39 Home Farm II Model farm. 1747-8 with later alterations. Perhaps by William Baker. Red brick; plain tile roofs. A rectangular yard on an east-west alignment was formerly enclosed on 4 sides by ranges of buildings, entrances to the couryard are in the centre of the south range and towards the east end of the north range; the southern half of the east range has been demolished. In the north range were the malthouse, cowshed, root house and bullhouse; the barn, stables and slaughter house were in the south range; there were cowsheds in the east range and loose boxes and stables in the west range; the farmhouse occupied the north-east corner of the quadrangle. North front. Farmhouse to the left of a segmental carriage arch,farmbuildings to the right. Farmhouse: 3 storeys; 2 bays, C20 casements, the ground floor has a single central window; raised roof verges and integral end stack. 2- storey, 2-bay block to the right with similar windows. Farmbuildings. One storey and loft. Ground floor and loft openings have segmental heads and are irregularly placed. South front. Single-storey barn to the right with 2 segmental arched cart entrances with boarded doors, and 13 tiers of air vents. Lofted stables to the left, 5 loft openings with boarded doors. Central segmental carriage arch. William Baker was at Enville in 1748 and was paid for unspecified plans in 1750. These may have been for Home Farm. V.C.H. vol.XX (1984), p. 97 & 102.
