5/233 Beech House and flanking Walls to south and east 1.2.56 II G.V.

Detached house. Probably C17, remodelled early - mid C18; altered c.1800 and mid C19. The centre part is rendered with French pilasters and freestone dressings; the central bay and the C19 projecting bay to the right are both ashlar; the left wing is ashlar on a rubble base and both parts have slate roofs with coped raised verges and ashlar stacks. The centre has a coved cornice and is of 2 storeys with attics in 5 dormers. 5 bays with moulded string courses over the ground and first floors: glazing bar sash windows, thick bars on the ground floor, in edge moulded surrounds with keystones. The right two bays are advanced in a C19, 2 storey bay window. The central bay is slightly advanced as a 2 storey porch, surmounted by a pediment; rusticated ground floor with central panelled and glazed door under a fanlight and a central round-headed window on the first floor, both with keystones and flanked by round-headed niches. The left wing is of 3 storeys and 2 bays: glazing bar sash windows (thick bars on the ground floor) with a moulded string course over. Interior: open well staircase with open string and turned and twisted balusters; the drawing room has raised and fielded panelling and a dentilled cornice. Garden walls extend to the south (approximately 6-8 feet high and 15 yards long) and to the east (approximately 8-10 feet high and 15 yards long): rubble with a moulded ashlar cornice; square ashlar gatepiers with moulded caps to centre of south wall.
