Pair of houses, with attached verandah. Probably c1840-50; altered. Painted roughcast render, slate roof, rendered chimneys; cast-iron verandah with lead-clad roof. Double-depth plan, each house double-fronted but with the architectural front towards the marine promenade and the main entrances in the rear to Bath Street. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, with garden fronts of 2+2 windows, and a continuous moulded gutter cornice. No.26 has 2 canted bay windows at ground floor with 4-pane sashed glazing, and 2 windows at 1st floor with renewed 4-pane glazing and raised surrounds. No.28 has a canted bay window to the right at ground floor, with 4-pane sashed glazing and a french window in its left side, a 4-pane sashed window to the left and 2 similar windows at 1st floor with raised surrounds. Coped gables; corniced chimneys on front and rear slopes at the junction and at both ends. Rear (to Bath Street) has various sashed windows with glazing bars. INTERIORS: not inspected. Forms a group with No.30 (Royal Hotel, qv) to the south-east. All the listed buildings in Bath Street, together with those in Adelaide Terrace, Beach Lawn, Marine Crescent and Marine Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
