HANLEY CASTLE CP HANLEY SWAN SO 84 SW Picken End 3/50 Cherry Tree Cottage II

Cottage. C17 and C19. Timber framed with rendered brick infill, C19 part is brick, thatched roof. One and a half storeys, 3 cell single depth range perhaps originally with through passage but now very altered. Box frame construction with square panels 3 x 8 but showing some evidence of being in two builds, the paired posts and the down brace in the centre of the north side. The east gable wall has had the timber framing removed from the ground floor (see interior). The east extension is C19 as is the north kitchen outshut, there is also a small C20 outshut adjoining the above. The windows are all modern hardwood casements but mostly in original openings. Thatched porch on south side. Rebuilt brick stack; gable stack to east end. Interior has much revealed framing and alterations. South lateral stack once heated west room now divided. East room broken through into C19 extension. Modern staircase. Closed collar trusses with clasped purlin roof.
