Farmhouse. Later C17, with additions c.1800 at both ends. Coursed squared standstone with quoins and random rubble with quoins, stone slate roof with some blue slates at front, ridge chimney of handmade brick. Three-bay baffle-entry plan with projecting porch, shallow rear outshut to 1st bay, large loomshop added at left(south) end, cartshed and stable at right end. Two storeys, plinth; 2- storey gabled porch in line with ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, built of large dressed blocks at ground floor, has plain square-headed outer door with large rectangular lintel and a peephole in each side wall, a large 3-light chamfered flush mullion window at 1st floor; 2 windows on each floor to the left, one at 1st floor to the right, all slightly recessed in chamfered surrounds and all of 3 lights except that at ground floor of middle bay which is 5 lights, those at ground floor with cavetto-moulded mullions and saddle-bars, that to the right similar but without the bars, and those at 1st floor to the left altered as sliding-sashes with glazing bars (the 4 missing mullions re-used as curbstones to a flower bed in front of this wall). Right gable (under cartshed) has a blocked 3-light mullioned window on each floor. Rear has a door to the 3rd bay, and windows like those in front: 5 lights and a 2-light stairwindow in the outshut to the 1st bay, 3 lights and a vertical rectangular firewindow on each floor of the middle bay (the upper lights mostly blocked with wattle-and-daub), and 3-lights at ground floor of the 3rd bay. Original axial rectangular brick chimney stack with panelled sides; added chimney at south gable. Loomshop at south end, 2 slightly lower storeys, has door at junction, a row of 5 square windows at ground floor, 2 separate square windows at 1st floor, and at the rear a row of 6 square windows: none of these windows is glazed, some are blocked with brick, and some have a thin central mullion; gable chimney. Cartshed and stable at north end has segmental arch with keystone (arch springing from wall of house) and stable door to right. Interior: almost complete survival of contemporary features, including back-to-back inglenook fireplaces with ovolo-moulded bressumers , stone heck, wattle-and-daub smoke hoods; post-and-rail timber-framed partition walls; winder staircase; in outshut a huge stone slab table (curing table or keeping stone); and 2 elaborately-decorated C19 cast iron fireplaces.
