1. 2191A RYDAL AND LOUGHRIGG Fox Ghyll NY 30 NE 9/204 II 2. C18, altered in 1870's. Home of Thomas de Quincey. Roughcast, slate roof, 2 storeys. Wide gabled porch with ogee Gothic glazing, early C19 small-paned sashes with shallow gable in centre and twin diagonal chimneys over the gable peak. A round chimney on left hand end. A wing at right angles to left has a front gable, and an early C19 sash window on each floor. Service wing to rear. Garden front has 3 large 24-paned sash windows on each floor in a newer portion, and 2 sash windows on each floor of older portion. A rear block has a small 3-light wood-mullioned casement, probably original, and round chimney.
