The following item shall be added: 1. 1605 ESPLANADE CRESCENT Number 1 Brackencliffe TA 0487 - TA 0587 II 0/D 2. House, now flats. 1905 converted late C20. Designed by Walter H. Brierley for W Glainsby in the Arts and Crafts Tudor style. Brick with ashlar dressings and plain tile roofs. 3 ridge and 2 gable stacks, one now reduced. 2 storey plus attic. West, entrance front has slightly projecting gabled entrance wing with a doorway to the right in a 4-centred arched, moulded ashlar surround and original double doors. To the left a five light mullion window. Above a single 5 light mullion window with the central light blocked and inscribed "M.G. 1905 W.G." with above a rendered gable. To the left 2 inglenook casements to each floor and above a crow-stepped gable with stack. To the right, the service wing, with 4, 3 light wooden cross casement windows and above a single light, a 2 light, a 3 light and a four light, wooden casement windows. North front has recessed centre with large 7 light cross mullion window, the lower lights at the right contain a plank door. Above a five light mullion window and above again a 3 light window with a broad central light with segment head. To the left a projecting gable-with a large 2 storey canted window, with 5, 2 light cross mullion windows below, and 5, 2 light mullion windows above, topped by a brick coped parapet. To the right a further projecting wing with a shallow 2 storey canted bay window, with 5 light cross mullion windows to each floor and continuous brick coped parapet. East front has a recessed centre with a three arched loggia over a single 5 light cross mullion and to the right a 2 light mullion window. Above a 6 light wooden dormer window with flat roof. To the right a projecting gabled wing with a five light cross mullion window and above a 3 light mullion window with a broad centre light with segment head. To the left a broader projecting gabled wing with a large 7 light cross mullion window and above a 5 light mullion window. INTERIOR Contains original staircase, 3 flights with bulbous turned balusters, square newels and moulded hand rail. The hall retains its inner screen and door, panel door and plaster barrel vault ceiling. N.W. ground floor room has a fine panelled inglenook with benches and Delft tiles, beamed ceiling and window seats. N.E. ground floor room has stone fireplace and decorative plaster ceiling, partly obscured by partition walls. Most doors, windows and window seats survive.
