TAUNTON ST 2224 SW 10/424 SHUTTERN Nos 1 and 2 Westbourne Terrace II G.V. Terrace of two houses. Circa 1875. Squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings to front in Shuttern, the side of No.1 in Burton Place and the curved bay at the street corner. Brick dressings at rear of main range and a brick rear wing to each house except for rubble with ashlar side wall to wing of No.1 in Burton Place. Slate roofs. Main range of three storeys: hipped roof with projecting eaves to front and side supported on closely spaced ornate timber brackets. Two large ashlar ridge stacks with bracketed cornices and terra/cotta pots. Two storey gabled rear wings. Uniform street facades in a simple Italianate style. Each house has an ashlar framed semi-circular arched doorway with quoined jambs and stepped voussoirs with raised keyblock. To right, an ashlar framed sash on each floor with similar quoined jambs and flat arched heads with voussoirs and keyblocks. Continuous ashlar plinth course and a string course at first floor sill level. Curved bay at street corner is slightly recessed behind quoined angles to the front and side facades. Curved bay, side bay and rear wing of No.1 have sashes similar to front on each floor. A six panel door-to each house with plain fanlight above, a single vertical bar to each sash.
