House, circa 1865. Flemish bond red brick with (mostly painted) stone dressings; grey slate roofs. Vigorous Gothic. 2 storey plus attics and with a 3-storey tower porch capped by a truncated spire with hipped dormers of wood and a cast-iron cresting. Ornate doorway has colonnettes (stiff-leaf capitals) and arched Geometrical fan under hoodmould with curved oak and vine leaves in spandrels. 4-panel shaped door and Geometrical glazed inner door. Above is small balcony with ornate iron railing and a casement of 3 arched lights to third storey. Bay right of (and flush with) porch has 2-light bay window to lower storey, with 2-light sash above under pointed relieving arch. The left wing of 1½ bays has a 2-storey square bay window with sashes of 3 lights to lower and 2 to upper storey, the latter with relieving arches; a similar, but canted, bay in right end; both diminish at lst floor with hips of shaped copper. The multiple-light windows have shoulder-arched lintels, colonnettes with stiff-leaf capitals and 2-pane sashes. At rear a landing window of 3 trefoil-head lights has stone surround and mullions, recessed under a camber-arch of brick. The left end is relatively plain. The gables have open verges with shaped trussed rafters; modillion eaves; tall, shaped chimneys. The interior: richly detailed, has opulent open-well stair, moulded plaster ceilings with ornate cornices to main rooms and pier-glasses in traceried frames in drawing room.
