Farmhouse. Early C17 and C19 with later alterations and repair. Painted local red brick, timber-framed with plaster and brick infill. C20 brick repair. C20 plain tiled roof hipped to return. Two storeys with attics and cellar. L-plan. Large gable end stack to south-west with rebuilt chimney, brick band returned to main elevation. North-west elevation: Four bays, one brick bay to left hand and three timber-framed bays with substantial posts and straight braces to middle rail. C20 brick corbel similar to original in rear elevation. Main entrance to left of centre with six-panelled door approached by stone steps. Tripartite hung sash window to left hand and three-light casement window to right hand; one first floor three-light casement window, and opening to cellar with segmental arched brick head. Interior: Original closed string staircase with symmetrically turned balusters and octagonal newel posts, one terminating at attic floor with ball finial. Moulded ceiling beams with ovolo-mouldings. C17 oak panelling refitted in first floor room and over mantel to chimney piece in south-west room with stopped ovolo-moulded jambs and four-centred arched head. Original butt purlin roof with purlins carried in front of the principal rafters and wind-braced in each bay, (the roof has been rebuilt to the south-east). C19 details included raised-and fielded-panelled doors. The farmhouse was possible built by Thomas Parratt who purchased the property in 1593 (VCH).
